Sam Curran bagged a five-wicket haul as England bowled out Afghanistan for 112 in their T20 World Cup Group 1 match at the Optus Stadium in Perth. After being put into bat, Afghanistan kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Ibrahim Zadran and Usman Ghani played cameos of 32 and 30, but a late Curran show sparked a middle-order collapse. Seldom have England bowled and fielded so impressively in a T20 international as they did against Afghanistan in Perth. Four outstanding catches – magnificent diving efforts by Liam Livingstone and, rather more surprisingly, Adil Rashid; a one-handed grab by Jos Buttler; and a fine catch, running over his head, from Moeen Ali that will now be relegated – allowed England to bowl Afghanistan out for just 112.
