England qualified for the semi-finals by defeating Sri Lanka in their last match at the Super 12 stage, while defending champions Australia crashed out of the event. England defeated Sri Lanka by 4 wickets in the Group 1 match of the Super 12 stage of the T20 World Cup. Along with this, England qualified for the semi-finals while the defending champions failed to make it to the final 4 of the event being played in their own country.

Apart from England from Group 1, New Zealand has also reached the semi-finals. New Zealand and England will face each other in the semi-finals, which will be decided by the Group 2 matches on Sunday. The situation is complicated in Group 2, where 2 teams from South Africa, India and Pakistan will reach the semi-finals. South Africa will face Netherlands, Pakistan will face Bangladesh and India will face Zimbabwe on Sunday. India has almost reached the semi-finals, but South Africa will qualify for the semi-finals if they beat the Netherlands. If South Africa lose and Pakistan beat Bangladesh, Pakistan will become the fourth team in the Final 4.
