On Wednesday, Ireland, ranked 12th in the T20 rankings, beat England by 5 runs under the Duckworth-Louis rule. In the match played in Melbourne, England won the toss and invited Ireland to bat. The entire team of Ireland was dismissed for 157 runs on the second ball of the 20th over. Chasing the target of 158 runs, England got off to a poor start and lost 3 wickets for 29 runs.

Even after losing 5 wickets, it was thought that England would chase down the score, as Moeen Ali was hitting big shots, but rain spoiled the game.
