Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by one run | PSL 7

In the 21st match of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Islamabad United defeated Karachi Kings by one run after a thrilling contest. In the match being played at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Karachi Kings captain Babar Azam decided to field first after winning the toss. United scored 191 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.

In pursuit of the target, King’s captain Babar Azam soon returned to the pavilion. He scored 13 runs but opener Sharjeel Khan batted aggressively and scored 44 off 29 balls. In the Kings’ lower middle order, Emad Wasim and Qasim Akram played offensive innings and led the team to victory, both scoring 55 and 51 runs respectively. Waqas Maqsood took 3 wickets, Asif Ali 2 wickets while Liam Dawson and Zeeshan Zameer took one wicket each for Islamabad United.

Earlier, Islamabad United did not have a good start. Opener Rehmanullah Garbaz was dismissed for just 12 runs while Alex Hales was also unable to play big innings and fell victim to Ameed Asif for 25 runs. Captain Shadab Khan scored 34 runs and fell victim to Emad Wasim, Liam Dawson 15, Azam Khan 22 while Asif Ali and Fahim Ashraf scored 28 and 29 runs while playing aggressive innings. For Karachi Kings, Emad Wasim took two wickets, Mir Hamza, Chris Jordan, and Ameed Asif took one wicket each.
