PCB Report Casts Doubt on PSL Exhibition Match

Following the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) examination of the Arbab Niaz Stadium, sources told Geo News on Wednesday the much awaited Pakistan Super League (PSL) exhibition match between previous champions Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators has come under threat.

Details state that a PCB crew visited the Peshawar venue and carefully examined the outfield, pitch dressing areas, commentary and media boxes.

According to the sources, the squad stated that the dressing rooms lacked basic needs and that the pitch and outfield of the venue were poor; the media and commentary and media boxes likewise seriously lack facilities.

Scheduled to take place eight, this much awaited meeting is part of the PCB’s attempts to include nearby supporters and create buzz before the 10th PSL.

The board wants to create buzz for the competition and underline its will to spread cricket all throughout Pakistan.

Owner of Peshawar Zalmi, Javed Afridi has been fervent supporter of PSL events held in Peshawar. He earlier asked PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi to give Arbab Niaz Stadium some thought as PSL 10 venue.

Together with the PCB’s activities, his efforts have resulted in this exhibition match that promises to be an exciting display for local cricket enthusiasts.

It is relevant to state that reigning champions Islamabad United will be playing two-time winners Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Friday, April 11, the much awaited 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).

From April 11 to May 18, the six-team event will schedule 34 matches overall. There will be thirteen games at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, including two Eliminators and the grand final.
