PCB to rename Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and National Stadium Karachi

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to rename other cricket grounds, including Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium and National Stadium Karachi. The PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has decided in principle to rename not only Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore but also other cricket stadiums in the country including National Stadium Karachi in collaboration with the sponsors on a commercial basis.

PCB chairman Rameez Raja told ESPN CricketInfo, a popular cricket website, that the decision to rename Gaddafi Stadium was not a political one but a commercial one. Ugo’s services are being sought. The PCB chief said that the Pakistan Cricket Board would determine the brand value of its stadiums in consultation with the company. It should be noted that Lahore Cricket Stadium was named after former Libyan ruler Colonel Muammar Gaddafi after the 1974 Islamic Summit Conference.

This stadium is considered as one of the best grounds in Pakistan. Sports journalist Daniel Rasool said that the chairman of the PCB had given the same impression about the renaming of the stadiums that the PCB was working behind the scenes. In response to a question, he confirmed that the PCB will issue tenders in this regard, for which the entire process has to be completed, it is not so easy that the decision has been made and done.
