America’s Francis Tiafoe knocked Nadal out of the event. Tiafoe won three sets in a four-set match. This is Rafael Nadal’s first defeat in 2022 Grand Slam events. Also, in women’s singles, Czech Republic’s Karolina Pilskova defeated Belarus’ Victoria Azarenka. Pliskova won the match seven five, six seven and six two to make it to the quarterfinals. In the second match, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus defeated Daniel Collins of America. Sabalinka won the next two sets after losing the first set.
