Former Pakistan captain and all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Monday announced the launch of the Mega Stars League (MSL) in September this year. According to details, former legend cricketers Inzamam-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis and Mushtaq Ahmed said that the league’s idea is to provide financial support to former cricketers, players, and sports journalists and it will be played in T-10 format.

Shahid Afridi said that Megastar League is an entertainment league that will be played in Rawalpindi in September this year. Afridi said the main purpose of introducing the league was to provide financial support to former cricketers, players, and sports journalists. He said that six teams would be included in MSL and foreign players would also participate in the upcoming league.

Asked about the possible return of departmental cricket to Pakistan, the star league spinner said that everyone is missing it but every system should give a few seasons before rejecting it. Shahid Afridi added that:

“I think everyone is remembering departmental cricket and also that whatever the new system, it should have a chance to be active for a long time.”
