Following the Toronto Blue Jays prospect’s triumphant major-association debut, there was no lack of complimentary messages and calls. Yet, hearing from CC Sabathia was especially unique for the 23-year-old.

“Him complimenting me and offering me some guidance pushing ahead is certainly something I’ll recollect always,” Manoah said during a meeting on Sportsnet’s Baseball Central. “A many individuals [compare] me to him, so that is a gigantic gift for me, to simply have the option to be in a similar class… simply being discussed like CC.

“He’s a legend. All that he does, for the sport of baseball, however off the field, for his local area.”

Sabathia finished his 19-year MLB profession right where Manoah began his, after 11 seasons and a World Series title with the Yankees. The six-time All-Star and ALCS MVP had only commendation for the Blue Jays rookie.

More than once, the youngster pitcher gazed strongly toward the hitter as he scoured up the ball, taking as much time as is needed with each pitch.

“I’m only there to advise them that this is my game,” Manoah said on Baseball Central. “This will be our group game here, and it will be on our speed. I will remain there, I will hold the ball and I will tell you that we will go when I’m prepared.
