Earlier, the Pakistan Sports Board dissolved the Pakistan Hockey Federation on July 7 and dismissed the president, secretary, and treasurer. The 4-year term of the current administration of the Pakistan Hockey Federation ended on May 14, 2022. The Pakistan Sports Board said that the administration has not announced the schedule of new elections despite the passage of 2 months. While dissolving the PHF, PSB de-notified President Khalid Sajjad Khokhar, Secretary General Asif Mehmood Bajwa, and Treasurer Muhammad Akhlaq. PSB says that the National Sports Policy 2005 was violated by the PHF administration.
