Pakistani Hyder Ali performed brilliantly in the men’s 81kg weightlifting event

Despite an elbow injury, Pakistan’s Hyder Ali performed brilliantly in the men’s 81kg weightlifting event during the Commonwealth Games. Pakistani weightlifter Haider Ali successfully lifted 135KG in Snatch and 170KG in Clean and Jerk and lifted a total of 305KG and secured the fifth position. In the event, England’s Chris Murray stood first, Australia’s Bruce second, Canada’s Wachhoun third, and India’s weightlifter Ajay Singh stood fourth. England’s Chris Murray won the gold medal with a total lift of 325 kg, including 144 kg in the snatch and 181 kg in the clean and jerk.

Australia’s Kyle Bruce took the silver medal with a total of 323kg, including 143kg in the snatch and 180kg in the clean and jerk. Meanwhile, bronze medalist Nicolas Vechin of Canada lifted 140kg in the snatch and 180kg in the clean jerk for a total of 320kg. After Haider Ali’s exit, Noah Butt and Hanzla Dastgri will be in action on August 3 in weightlifting, Noah Butt is competing in 109 plus KG while Hanzla Dastgri will be in action in 109 KG. It may be noted that Ali won the gold medal in the same weight category in the 2019 South Asian Games, he has also won five gold medals in national competitions.
