When the Australian team came to Pakistan under the leadership of Kim Hughes in the Test series in 1982, the first Test match was played at the National Stadium in Karachi in which the Pakistani bowlers did not allow the batsmen of the visiting team to dominate. The host team led by Imran Khan won the match by 9 wickets. Australia was bowled out for 284 in their first innings. Kim Hughes (54) and Alan Border (55) were the standouts.

In the second innings, the Australian batsmen could not stand in front of Abdul Qadir’s league spin and googly balls.
Rodney Marsh and Ray Bright were the top scorers with 32-32 runs. The entire team piled up 179 runs. Abdul Fad took five wickets, and Iqbal Qasim and Imran took two wickets each. Pakistan got the target of 45 runs which they achieved at a loss of one wicket.
